Peugeot Ireland Recalls 3008 and 5008 Models Over Suspension Safety Risk

Gowan Distributors Limited (Peugeot Ireland) has issued a voluntary recall of certain Peugeot 3008 and Peugeot 5008 SUVs.

The recall, announced on 07 January 2025, concerns a suspension defect that could impair steering if left unresolved. In total, 1,471 vehicles in Ireland are affected.

Affected Vehicles

  • Models: Peugeot 3008, Peugeot 5008
  • Production Dates:
    • Peugeot 3008: 17 July 2023 – 29 November 2024
    • Peugeot 5008: 05 December 2023 – 29 November 2024
  • Units Affected in Ireland: 1,471

Details of the Fault

The safety issue involves the front lower suspension arm:

  • On some vehicles, the fixing screws on the ball joint mount (front left or right) may be broken.
  • If one screw is missing, there is no immediate effect.
  • If two screws fail, the ball joint mount can pivot, causing:
    • The affected wheel to change direction
    • The wheel to strike the mudguard
    • A possible loss of steering control in the worst-case scenario

Risks

  • Reduced steering capacity
  • Increased risk of accidents if the ball joint mount fails
  • Potential for sudden loss of control at higher speeds
