Peugeot Ireland Recalls 308 Models Over Rear Seatbelt Safety Risk

Gowan Distributors Limited, the official importer for Peugeot in Ireland, has issued a voluntary recall of certain Peugeot 308 vehicles. The recall concerns a seatbelt anchorage defect that could compromise passenger safety in the second row of seats.

This recall, announced on 01 August 2025, affects 156 cars in the Republic of Ireland.

Affected Vehicles

  • Model: Peugeot 308
  • Production Dates: 12 October 2015 – 01 December 2019
  • Units Affected in Ireland: 156

Details of the Fault

The recall has been issued due to a safety defect in the seatbelt system. The upper anchorages of the seatbelts in the second-row seats may break.

If this occurs, the seatbelt retractor may not function correctly, reducing its ability to restrain passengers during an accident.

Risks

  • Increased risk of injury to rear passengers in the event of a crash
  • Reduced seatbelt protection due to weakened anchorage
